Displayed on large illuminated light boxes, the exhibition presents the first series of saint paintings by The Indian Saint Project. The carefully crafted digital, hand-painted iconographies create a map of the saints' pivotal life events, philosophies, and teachings, inviting viewers to experience the saints’ inspiring vāṇī (voice) through visual form.

Each saint featured in this project transcended religious, social, and cultural boundaries, profoundly transforming their surroundings. They broadened the scope of human thought and cultivated kalyāṇ (well-being), spreading goodness throughout the world.

Our visual research draws inspiration from the Indian artist Raja Ravi Varma (1848–1906) and the Bazaar Art movement, which flourished alongside the rise of the modern Mahā-Guru phenomenon, depicting Indian gods, goddesses, and epic scenes.

Here, we re-painted Varma's depiction of goddess Durga slaying the demon Mahishasura.

Like a blindfolded man abandoned in a foreign land‭, ‬one needs a teacher in life‭. ‬One of the metaphors used by‭ ‬Uddālaka‭ ‬Āruni to teach his son‭ ‬Śvetaketu in the Chāndogya‭ ‬Upanisad‭, ‬Chapter 6‭. ‬The teachings and the‭ ‬frame story are depicted in the exhibition’s ceramic relief‭.‬
